Improperly installed shower drain and/or liner

I got a call today from a contractor that has been in the flooring business for over 30 years and the questions he asked are on how to install a shower drain and shower liner properly, since this person has taken on a shower remodel for one of his customers.
This is a perfect example of the need for the consumer to know which contractor to hire for their project. I am attaching photos of a shower remodel I did recently. It shows the damage that was done to the bottom of the shower floor/walls and the amount of mold/bacteria that can collect when the shower drain/liner is improperly installed. The first symptoms are the wall and floor grout lines keep getting dark even thou you keep cleaning them, it’s mold/bacteria from the standing water every time you take a shower that’s coming thru the grout joints. Then you will also start to get wall and baseboard water damage in the bathroom close to the shower and in adjoining rooms to the shower. If your shower walls have the original green board then eventually those wall boards will start to cave in.
So don’t hire a handyman or someone else that doesn’t do bathroom remodeling as their profession. It’s best to pay a little extra and finance the remodel/repair if you have to in order to do it right the first time and have peace of mind.
